Am I the only one uncomfortable with the close approach of a camera drone to a substantial racing wreck before there’s been any sign of movement from the driver or any approach by race marshalls and safety crew?

Yes. I thought it was pretty cool, if you can get a camera drone to the wreck of the scene, you can probably already get a good idea of wtf is wrong, from an emergency personnel perspective and kinda prepare just that much quicker while en route. Just my opinion though!

the camera drone was for the broadcast, not safety. for the same price as a decent pro drone you can install a really nice PTZ camera w/ 30x optical zoom and killer low light performance. Also, you don’t have to change the batteries in the PTZ camera every 20 minutes.

Yeah, you’re right, it was for broadcast only. I don’t know much about cameras though so you’ve probably got a point there.
